Pippa

As he drove Pippa's car, following the directions from her GPS, Akeem took a moment to reflect on what was happening. It still felt a little surreal. She was young, beautiful, with an intoxicating smell that had the wolf pace inside him restlessly, even now. He did not know what she saw in him, but he would not fight his good luck. Far from calming his desire, the short car ride only served to build anticipation, and he was glad she had thought ahead, so they only needed to pick up the keycard.

Kissing her again felt like water on parched lips, something he'd been longing for, something all of him had been longing for. She kissed him slowly, but he kissed back fiercely, letting the wolf direct his actions. His arms wrapped possessively about her waist, pulling her closer to him, before his hands slid down to cup her bum. Her scent enveloped him in a heady haze, and a growl broke into the kiss as he thought of what it would be like to feel her wrapped around him.

"And even if it weren't your role, it certainly sounds like a worthy one to take up," Akeem remarked. And he had thought she was out of his league before these revelations.

"It seems that way," she agreed, then rolled to press against him and draw lazy circles on his skin.

"And you, now. What's your story?"

She was highly distracting, pressed up naked against him, and Akeem gave in to the urge to dip his head to the crook of her neck, nose buried in her curls, and breathe in deep. He caught her eyes as he straightened up, keeping both arms around her, holding her close. He wanted to kiss her, but she deserved her answers, too. "I wasn't born a wolf. I was infected... seven years ago? I think. Yes. It's been - a journey, learning to control that side of me, but I feel I've a decent handle on it now."

"Infected? I'm so terribly sorry," she said softly, and she was. To carry something like this couldn't be easy, no matter how enticing it was for her personally. She curled in close, arm lazy and heavy as she held on around him and nuzzled his skin. "It really is remarkable, though. Maybe I'm not that sorry."

"Don't be sorry at all," he told her, warm and quiet, ducking his head to lightly run his nose along her forehead, and into her hair, breathing her in again. He would not know her scent, if it hadn't been for the infection. Never mind that he likely wouldn't know her at all. "It's not without its drawbacks, but... it's part of me, now."

"I wish I could be so accepting of my lot in life," she said, happy to be curled into him, her touches light and lazy. "I haven't been a queen for long, and I'm still not entirely certain what I'm meant to do. But I'm learning to control my power, so that's something."

"It tends to be the first step," Akeem agreed, or at least, that had been his priority, and how he had learned to accept it all. "It took me years to be quite so accepting, though. Fair warning. I think I went through the five stages of grief over it."

[pippa_flynn]

"That actually doesn't surprise me. I don't think I've felt any denial, but, oh yes, anger...and bargaining," she replied softly, pressing herself closer to him for the comfort of his clear understanding.

"You'll get there, I'm sure," Akeem told her, holding her close and brushing a kiss on her forehead. His other hand cupped her face tenderly, thumb brushing her cheek. "How long's it been?"

"Seven weeks," she admitted quietly.

"It's still so fresh," Akeem stated, brushing her hair with his fingers. His every touch was reverent, not because she was a queen, but because she was a wonder. "Give it time."

[pippa_flynn]

"I am. I will. I've never been particularly patient," she confessed with a soft laugh.

Akeem couldn't help but smile. "Yes, that - became quite apparent last night," he assured her, warm humour playing in his eyes.

"Oh, is that how it is?" Pippa teased, giving him a poke in the ribs. "You didn't complain," she laughed.

"I'm still not," he assured her, his smile stretching from the sound of her laughter.

Pip moved a little so she could face him and press herself to him. He was warm and his smell was still terribly intoxicating.

"We should take a shower," she said, giving him little random kisses. "I'll wash your back..."

"And I'll wash yours?" Akeem finished for her, and found her mouth for a brief kiss. He didn't think very much of what his breath must be like this morning, after all.

[pippa_flynn]

"That's the idea," she nodded. "And then I'll have to say my goodbyes. I've got work I need to do today, sadly."

"And I've a bookshop to open," Akeem finished, leaning back to let her move off him.

[pippa_flynn]

"It's not fair that the real world has to creep back in on us," she said as she lured him to the bathroom.

"I'm not sure this would feel quite as fantastic if it didn't have reality as a backdrop," Akeem answered, going where he was led and reluctant to be very far from her anyway. They stepped into the shower and he grabbed the hose to unhook it before getting it running, angling it away from them so they'd escape the initial splash of cold water.

Pippa waited until the water was warm, then stretched her toes u=under the spary to get accustom to the warmth of it.

"I'm glad you think so, Akeem. That it's fantastic," she said, her hands finding his chest. "I'd like to see you again. Unless...we didn't really discuss if this was just a one off thing..."

The unexpected falter in her self-confidence endeared her all the more to Akeem, and he turned back to her, having set the shower head back in place. "I'd love to see you again," he told her, very honestly, fingers cupping her face before he ducked into another kiss, his frame breaking the spray so that it would not hit her in the face.

He was still incredulous that such a woman - never mind a Fae, a Queen - would want to spend time with him, but he was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Pippa was quite used to one night stands. And she was quite used to people who wanted to hang on when she'd rather they just go away. But for her to want to see someone again left her feeling a bit vulnerable. She was pleased Akeem seemed to not know how much effort it took to put herself out there and ask.

"Then we'll make it happen," she said as she took up the small bar of soap and a cloth. "Because I think I'd like to get to know you better."
