Akeem had given Greg the name of a pub right down his street. He had every intention of getting absolutely pissed tonight, and the shorter the trip back home the better. He'd secured a booth at the back of the pub, and a bottle of whisky, and he was already working on his first glass when Greg arrived.

Akeem poured some whisky into the second glass and pushed it on Greg's side of the table.

"Mostly, yeah," Akeem confirmed with a nod, then a dry chuckle. "Current circumstances notwithstanding."

"You can send her to me for a pregnancy test if you want," House said. "If she'd come. Like I said, I don't think she's exactly on Team Greg at the moment."

"The whore comment that didn't happen," Akeem remembered, his tone slightly quizzical.

"Well, yes. And probably just my overall unpleasant demeanor," House pointed out.

"Nonsense, you're a charmer," Akeem deadpanned, then wiped a hand over his face. "Thank you. I'll talk to her."

"Sure," said House.

"Anything else you want to talk about while you're sloshed?"

"I rather thought I'd get more sloshed," Akeem answered as he topped off their glasses. Then he turned his gaze from the whisky to Greg. "Unless you'd like to talk, of course."

"Not really," House said. Particularly given that Akeem had a connection to Fin now, he wasn't going to regale him with similar romantic concerns. And it wasn't like House was suddenly a vampire or something and could share. "I'm not much of a talker."

"I didn't think so," Akeem confirmed with a one-shouldered shrug. He was just relieved that Greg wasn't asking him a host of medical questions about his condition, honestly. If his friend had followed that up with opening up about things, Akeem might have wondered if he was possessed.

"Want to go to a monster truck rally next week?" House asked instead.

The question surprised a laugh out of Akeem. "Have we got monster truck rallies in this country?"

If there was one thing he had no idea about, it was monster trucks, but he'd always imagined that they were very, very American.

"Very, very rarely," House said. "I'm on a mailing list."

Akeem was fairly certain that he was beginning to be drunk; why else would he feel the urge to ask how monster trucks even fit in Britain? It felt as if they were too big for the country, which was a bit stupid, really.

"Well, this I've got to see," he agreed, bemused.

He had to wonder whether it would still seem like a good idea when he was sober, but right then, he didn't really care.

"Excellent," said House, who was actually really pleased to have the company for this particular event. "It's a date then."

"Next weekend?" Akeem checked.

"Saturday night," said House. "You can update me on Pippa."

"Right, right," Akeem agreed, and drank some more whisky. "Wait, I should. Make a note." He pulled out his mobile to do just that. No, he didn't trust himself to remember.

"Meet me at my place around six," House said. "It'll be fun." His lips quirked a little.
